If you are interested in having your new home’s roof tiled, we can provide your with brochures that will make the initial roof tile selection easier. Additionally, we can supply addresses of homes that have the same tiles as you are considering, so you can go past and get an idea of what they’ll look like on your roof. We can even arrange to have an actual sample of the tiles delivered to you, so you can match it with your paint colours and spouting if you would prefer.
The first step is to forward your house plans to us with your tile preferences including, the tile colour, tile profile and whether you want terra cotta or concrete tiles. Information can be sent to us via email, fax or post.
Once we receive your details we provide you with a written quotation. If you do decide to accept our quotation, we will then give you an estimated date for which we will able to start your job.
In preparation for us to start your job, the new tiles and roof battens are delivered to your site. Scaffolding or safety rails will also be installed if it is required, prior to us commencing.
The new tiles are transported up onto your roof via a roof tile elevator and are stacked ready for our tilers to begin laying them. We can arrange to supply decorative ridges, finials or any other ornamental feature you may wish to install.
Once everything is in place, our team do what they do best and start tiling your roof.
CSIRO Division of Building Construction and Engineering have stated that concrete tiles do not become porous with age. All concrete tiles absorb a small amount of water however that in no way compromises the integrity of the roof. Roof restoration through painting of your concrete roof tiles should be done to improve the appearance of your roof only it will not increase the lifespan of your roof tiles. Terra cotta roof tiles should never be painted.
In the past in Victoria the valleys on roofs were bedded and pointed where the roof tiles met the valley irons. This practice stopped in the 1990’s as it was determined by the industry that the cement in the valleys can crack easily with the expansion and contraction of the valley irons. Once the cement falls out of place in the valleys it can block the water flow and cause water ingress into the ceiling. Thus the current standard is that the valleys are left dry.
In past eras terra cotta roof tiles could become salt affected if installed near the sea. This is no longer a concern as current technology used to produce terra cotta roof tiles means that modern tiles are not affected in any way by exposure to salt air. Monier terra cotta roof tiles have a 50 year performance and colour guarantee.
Moss and lichen does not eat into roof tiles or damage your roof in any way. Some homeowners do not like the look of the lichen on their roof and choose to get their roof cleaned. This is easily done using a high pressure water cleaning system.
You should get your roof checked at least once a year, especially coming into winter as the climate provides us with a lot of wind and rain.
There are three main benefits which can be gained by installing sisalation paper to your new roof.
> Sisalation paper can add up to an extra R1 insulation benefit.
> It adds and extra layer of waterproofing in the event that there is damage to your roof and a roof tile had been broken.
> Sisalation paper will assist in keeping dust and debris out of your ceiling space. Helpful if you plan on using this space for storage.

A major source of a home’s heat gain or loss is through the roof, which in turn places a huge load on energy requirements for cooling and heating. The density of roof tiles combined with the use of effective insulation, ventilation and solar passive design principles creates a more effective barrier against the climate.
Depending on the material and method used it is acceptable to re-spray concrete roof tiles to enhance the colour. However, it must be understood that this will not enhance performance and if the roof is old, you could be much better off re-tiling. Never re-spray terracotta tiles, as the colour coat applied will peel away from the glazed surface over time.
